Part 2 of a 2 part painting, though it might be some time before I complete the first segment. I painted this about a year ago for my science illustration class. Both pieces feature current horse species in the world (or an approximation there of.. sans subspecies and such), and are ordered in terms of their endangerment status. Since then, the Prezwalski's horse (not shown) has been reintroduced to the wild and is flourishing, so both piece's accuracy are probably no longer current. Acrylic with some color pencil.
Common names, left to right: Mountain Zebra (endangered), Grevy's (endangered), Onager, Asiatic Ass (threatened? Sorry I don't have the info in front of me), and Plains Zebra (common)

I loves me some scientific illustration. This is really well done. :D

Aw, thanks. :) Though, it'll be awhile before I draw anything stripey again.. My eyes would actually lose focus and get confused when I was working on this for awhile. I imagine that's how those predators feel like. ;P

Wow! I think you're going to give Robert Bateman a run for his money. This looks great!

That's actually a really neat idea for a painting. I wonder if you'd mind my borrowing the concept with a different species or perhaps cross species

Awesome! I can almost hear the their hooves as they run across the screen.
